My wife and I contacted Melinda Splain in the spring of 2007 as we knew we would be looking for a home in the Asheville area when our home in Virginia sold. We spoke on the phone, e-mailed, and reviewed homes over the internet. We got a contract on our house on October 23; came to Asheville and toured homes for the first time with Melinda and Judy Cattanach on October 26th & 27th. The last home we looked at was one Melinda had selected for us – not one we chose to look at – and it was the perfect home for us. If we had relied on her expertise of listening to our needs and desires, we could have eliminated 2 days of frustration!
From the day we contacted Melinda, to the days we visited homes with Melinda and Judy, up to and through the closing, they (and Asheville Home Buyer) far exceeded our expectations. Their unfailing good humor, keen intuition, consistent and timely follow-through, extraordinary dedication to service, and sterling integrity was hard to believe. Basically, they were just a pleasure to work with.
We have moved 4 times in the last 10 years and realtors we have dealt with (in various states) talk about service, but Melinda Splain and Judy Cattanach actually deliver it--in spades. We were truly impressed with the level of excellent service we received. Their commitment to us was, and is, truly extraordinary. At every step of the way Melinda and Judy were there, with insight and wise council, with energy and warmth, helping us to make the right choices for us. The level of excellence Melinda and Judy deliver is rare, and their clients should feel fortunate to be in their care. Your firm is indeed fortunate to have individuals of this caliber. When Melinda met us at the home for one last time before making an offer, she had done her homework. Because of her knowledge about comps in the area and home values, she was able to negotiate an extremely good price for us.
It is rare to find people who are so good at what they do that you want to keep doing business with them over and over. We cannot adequately express how wonderful and competent Melinda and Judy were in bringing the transaction to a close. Thank you Melinda, Judy, and Asheville Home Buyer.

This is a tale of a retired couple from New Jersey and their journey to find a better quality of life in a new environment -- Asheville, NC.
This story also involves a real estate agent who helped them achieve their ambitions. We are that couple and Melinda Splain is our agent. Call her the Buyer’s Agent, for she worked tirelessly, patiently and always with the buyer’s interest at heart.
We must be the pickiest couple. Never satisfied and eager to see more. And learn more… about how things worked in and outside the house. About neighborhoods and facilities and where the nearest library was. Our agent knew the answers to all our questions. What sets Melinda apart is her range of knowledge: from building and financing, to decorating and generally clearing up our concerns. Whenever we had a question, she was available to provide an answer.
Finally, Melinda helped us decide on the house we were waiting for. A very special house that met all our aspirations.
